National Homeland Security Knowledge
ASSISTANT CHIEF Walker started in the fire service in 1989 with the Toledo
Fire Department. While at the Toledo Fire Department, Walker served as a
Firefighter for 3 years and 2 1/2 years as Lieutenant, Training Officer.
After moving to Grinnell, IA in 1996 he was a firefighter for 2 years, 2 years
as a Captain, 5 years as an Assistant Chief, three years training Captain and
in 2008 became the first Assistant Chief of Training.
Captain Walker is certified Nationally as:
Firefighter 1& 2
Instructor 1 & 2
Inspector 1
IS-100, IS-200, is-300, is-400 & IS-700.
He is also certified as:
Haz-Mat Technician
High-Low Angle Rope Rescue Technician
Confined Rescue Technician
Trench Rescue Technician
Water-Ice Rescue Tech and Recovery Technician
Agriculture Rescue Technician
Extrication Rescue Technician
Lay Responder & Professional rescuer instructor for the American Red
Cross.
Assistant Chief Walker is the training chief for the Grinnell Fire
Department, he also instructs for Professional Rescue Innovations, Van
Meter, IA, Iowa Valley Continuing Education Center, Iowa Central Community
College, Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau, and The American Red Cross.
Assistant Chief Walker Specializes in instructing Firefighter 1 & 2, Confined
Space Rescue (Fire & Industrial), Auto Extrication, high Angle Rope
Rescue, NIMS & Incident management.
